Brown Tuesday

Trapped

This butterfly was a gift from my great aunt about ten years ago. She sometimes gives the most interesting thrift store and "rummage sale" finds. The little brown butterfly is both lovely and disturbing. Its delicacy and beauty cannot change the fact that it is, well, dead, a tiny trophy hanging on my wall. And yet, I still keep it. . .

It may make you feel better to know that many of these guys only live a few days once they become butterflies, and many of the butterfly farms where they are raised allow them to die naturally before collecting them to mount in the display (we have a customer who is a butterfly farmer)
